Biography

2015: Played in all 18 of the team’s games during the season, including 16 in a starting role… Aided a defense that finished the year ranked 11th in Division III in team goals against average (0.59), 14th in save percentage (.866) and 21st in shutout percentage (0.56)… Helped to hold opponents to 10.3 shots per game and 4.6 shots on goal per game, while recording 10 shutouts… Assisted on a goal during the Spartans’ 2-1 win over Capital, the first assist of his career… Took 12 shots during the campaign, including three on goal… Received UAA All-Academic recognition… Finished his career with 50 games played for the Spartans.

2014: Played in nine matches with two starts at midfielder…recorded three shots…named UAA All-Academic.

2013: Played in all 17 matches with 12 starts at midfielder…recorded 13 shots…named UAA All-Academic.

2012: Played the first five matches of the season as a freshman before suffering an injury.

Personal: Earned four varsity letters at University of Chicago Laboratory High School…three-time first-team Independent School League selection…two-year team captain in 2010 and 2011…son of Roumen and Antoaneta Balabanov.
