Biography

Senior (2021-22): Named the ITA Central Region Most Improved Senior… Received All-UAA Second Team honors for his play at no. 3 doubles with Michael Sutanto and an all-conference honorable mention for his work at no. 5 singles… Finished the season with an 11-3 singles record and an 18-5 doubles mark… Was 16-4 at no. 3 doubles during the campaign… Went 10-1 against Division III opponents in singles play during the year… Won the fifth singles match in three sets during the Spartans’ match against Michigan… Named the UAA Athlete of the Week on both Feb. 21 and Apr. 4… Received ITA Scholar-Athlete and UAA All-Academic honors… Finished his career with a 54-10 singles record and a 63-20 doubles mark… Ranked 13th in program history in career singles wins, second in singles winning percentage (.844), 13th in doubles wins and seventh in doubles winning percentage (.759) at the time of his graduation.

Junior (2020-21): Earned All-UAA honors for his play at no. 3 doubles… Finished the year with overall records of 10-1 in singles matches and 8-4 in doubles contests… Led all Spartan players with a .909 singles winning percentage during the year… Saw most of his time at no. 4 and 5 singles and at no. 2 and 3 doubles… Recorded the match-clinching victory at no. 4 singles during the Spartans’ NCAA Championship first round win over Illinois Tech and their quarterfinal victory over Trinity… Won 23-straight singles matches, from February 7, 2020 through May 25, 2021… Ended his junior season with a 43-7 career record, tying him for the 17th-most wins and second-best winning percentage (.854) in program history… Went 3-1 in singles matches and 3-2 in doubles play during the Spartans’ NCAA Tournament run… His 45-15 career doubles record ranks him with the 17th-most victories and eighth-best winning percentage (.750) in program history… Received UAA Spring All-Academic recognition and was named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.

Sophomore (2019-20): Finished the year with a 17-2 record in singles play and a 9-2 mark in doubles… His .895 winning percentage during the campaign is tied for the best mark in a season in team history… Was a perfect 13-0 in singles play during dual matches during the spring, including a 4-0 mark at no. 4 singles and a 5-0 mark at no. 5 singles… Added an 8-0 mark in doubles matches during dual contests in the spring, including a 5-0 mark at no. 3 doubles… Reached the round of 16 of the singles draw at the ITA Central Region Fall Championships… Named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and received UAA All-Academic recognition… His 33-6 career singles record at the end of his sophomore season gives him the second-best winning percentage (.846) in program history, while his 37-11 doubles mark gives him the fifth-best winning percentage (.771) and the 22nd-most total wins.

First-year (2018-19): Selected as an honorable mention to the All-UAA Team during his freshman season for his play at both no. 5/6 singles and no. 3 doubles (with teammate Aaron Umen)… Finished the season with a 16-4 singles record, including a 14-2 mark during the spring season… His .800 singles winning percentage ranked as the seventh-highest mark in program history… Won his last six singles matches of the season, including a perfect 3-0 mark as the team’s fifth singles player at the UAA Championships… Went 28-9 in doubles play during the campaign, including a 21-6 spring record… Tied for the sixth-most doubles wins in a season in program history, while his .757 winning percentage was tied for the 17th-best ever by a Spartan player… Won his final six doubles matches of the year as well, including all three at the UAA Championships… Reached the round of 64 of the singles draw at the ITA Fall Regional Championships and the round of 16 of the doubles draw at the event with teammate Sam Concannon… Named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.

Personal: Was a four-year member of the tennis team at the Liberal Arts and Science Academy, serving as a team co-captain during his senior year... Was coached by Ryan Barnes in high school... Was also coached by Darin Pleasant... Suffered just five losses in high school despite playing in the top-two in the lineup all four years... Won the state doubles championship as a senior, following a runner-up finish his junior campaign... Helped lead his team to runner-up finishes at the District Championships as both a junior and a senior... Ranked in the top-250 in the country and among the top-20 in Texas...
