Prior to CWRU

Was a four-year member of the track & field team and a three-year member of the cross country team at Harvard-Westlake High School, serving as a team captain during his senior year… Coached by Jonas Koolsbergen and Tim Sharpe… Named the Most Valuable Competitor on his track & field team following his senior season… Recorded career-best times of 15:39 in the three-mile run, 4:25 in the mile run, 1:56 in the 800m run, and 50.4 seconds in the 400-meter run… Helped to set school records in the 4x800m (7:50), 4x1,600m (17:31), and distance medley (10:09) relays… Also played soccer during his first year of high school.
