Biography
Graduate Student (2023-24): Earned All-America honors for his play at doubles for the second consecutive year after winning the ITA Fall Regional Championship with Vishwa Aduru… Qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championship with Aduru, finishing in the round of 16… Selected to the All-UAA First Team for his play at no. 1 doubles and to the Second Team for his efforts at no. 6 singles… Was ranked as high as first in Division III with Aduru for their doubles play and ended the season ranked fifth nationally and third regionally… Was also ranked 20th in the region in the final singles poll… Selected as the UAA Athlete of the Week for men’s tennis on four occasions during the year, more than any other CWRU player… Finished the year with a 23-4 singles record to lead all Spartan players with a .852 winning percentage, the ninth-highest in a season in program history… Went 19-2 in dual matches, including a 13-1 mark at no. 6 singles… Won his final 10 singles matches during the year, including a 2-0 record during both the UAA Championship and the NCAA Championship… Went 31-9 in doubles matches, including a 22-4 record in dual matches and a 15-4 mark at no. 1 doubles… The 31 doubles wins were the 10th-most in team history in a season… Won 12 straight doubles matches from March 16 through May 21… Went 3-0 in doubles at the UAA Championship and 3-0 in NCAA Tournament play… Selected to the ITA Men’s National Team Indoor Championship All-Tournament Team after going 3-0 in singles play during the event… Named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and received UAA Spring All-Academic honors… Ended his career with a 56-16 singles record, good for the 17th-most wins and the ninth-best winning percentage (.778) in program history… His 79-19 career doubles record ranks him 11th all-time in wins and second in winning percentage (.806).
Senior (2022-23): Earned All-America honors for the first time in his career after reaching the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Doubles Championship with partner Chris Provenzano… Named to the All-UAA Second Team for his play at no. 2 doubles… Finished the year ranked fourth in the region and 14th nationally in doubles… Went 32-8 overall in doubles matches, the eighth-most doubles wins in a season ever by a Spartan player… Was 13-1 in the no. 2 doubles position and 26-4 overall in the spring… Was 7-1 in no. 2 doubles matches with Provenzano during the NCAA Championships, including an 8-3 win in the NCAA Championship match against Tufts… Claimed a pair of wins in the NCAA Doubles Championship (including an upset of the fourth-ranked pairing), before falling in a third-set tiebreaker in the semifinals… Won 18-straight doubles matches between March 13 and May 13… Added an 11-4 singles record, including a 6-3 mark in the spring… Named an ITA Scholar-Athlete… Received UAA Spring All-Academic honors… Ended his senior year with a 48-10 doubles record and his .828 doubles winning percentage for his career is the second-highest in program history.
Junior (2021-22): Finished his junior campaign with an 8-6 singles record and a 6-1 doubles mark… Went 4-3 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles matches during dual contests… Received ITA Scholar-Athlete and UAA All-Academic honors.
Sophomore (2020-21): Went undefeated in limited action for the Spartans during his sophomore year, going 3-0 in singles matches and 2-0 in doubles contests… Improved to 14-2 in singles play and to 10-1 in doubles play over his collegiate career… Received UAA Spring All-Academic recognition and was named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
First-year (2019-20): Completed his first year on the team with an 11-2 overall singles record, including a 6-1 mark in tournament play and a 5-1 record in spring dual matches… Picked up wins in each of his final five singles matches during the season… Added an 8-1 doubles record, including a 6-1 mark in fall tournament play and a 2-0 ledger in spring dual matches… Named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
Personal: Was a three-year member of the Bentley School tennis team... Coached by Carlos Madrigal... Played the no. 1 position all three years... Was a two-time winner of the individual section championships... Named his school's Athlete of the Year in 2019, in addition to earning Sophomore Athlete of the Year honors in 2017 and Junior Athlete of the Year honors in 2018... Was also coached by Alex Poorta and Michael Carreno... Born August 27... Son of Luis and Anne... His father played soccer at Golden Gate University.
