Roger Prettyman

Roger Prettyman joined the Case Western Reserve University baseball program in 2022, serving as the team’s hitting and defensive coach, in addition to coaching first base for the team.

Prettyman has helped the Spartans qualify for the NCAA Tournament in each of his first two seasons with the team. The squad, which won the University Athletic Association Championship in 2024, has gone 60-24 (.741) during his time on the coaching staff. His efforts also helped the Spartans set program single-season records for slugging percentage (.490) and home runs (40) while recording the third-most runs scored (364) in team history.

Prettyman joined the CWRU staff before the 2023 season, bringing with him a wealth of baseball experience spanning a variety of levels. Known for his passion for the game and dedication to player development, Roger has left an indelible mark on the baseball community through his coaching expertise and leadership. Born in Cleveland, he attended the University of Cincinnati where he was a walk-on on the baseball team but saw his career cut short by injury.

After graduating with a Master’s degree in Project Management, Roger transitioned into coaching at both the middle school and high school levels, before joining the Spartan staff.

Outside of baseball, Prettyman enjoys spending time with his sons and fiancé, traveling, exercising, and watching movies. He is actively involved in community initiatives through his fraternity Iota Phi Theta.
