No. 15 Spartans Place Fifth in UAA with Sweep of No. 26 NYU

The 15th-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team swept 26th-ranked New York University 4-0 in the University Athletic Association Fifth-Place Match at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida, on Sunday morning.

The Spartans ended the season with a record of 12-6 and a 2-1 mark in conference play. The Violets fell to 10-5 overall and 1-2 in the UAA.

Spartan Notes


  • CWRU improved to 6-2 against NYU since 2011, breaking a two-match losing streak in the series. Five of the eight matches have occurred at the UAA Championship
  • The Spartans placed at least fifth in the league for the third time since 2022
  • Both pairings of Kassaie and Wang and Rose and Wong won all three of their doubles matches in Florida with the Spartans taking the doubles point each time
  • Kassaie ended the weekend with a 2-1 singles record, the only Spartan to finish to all three of her singles matches

The Spartans will now await the announcement of the field for the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship, as the squad hopes to qualify as an at-large team. Team selections, along with a full bracket and the host sites for the first three rounds of the tournament, are set to be posted to ncaa.com on Monday, May 4, by 12 p.m.
