Stats and Standouts

First Half

  • The Spartans had three shots in the opening five minutes of play, controlling possession in the attacking third
  • A pair of CWRU shots were saved in the 15th and 19th minutes with CMU earning their lone corner kick of the game in between
  • With under two minutes left in the half, sophomore Abby Welker hit the right post with a shot, one of four attempts the Spartans had in the final 3:10 of play in the half
  • None of the shots found the back of the net, and the teams went into halftime scoreless

Second Half

  • Seven minutes into the second period, senior Maggie Farra had a low shot saved
  • In the 56th minute, Dapino received the ball at the edge of the box, beat three defenders, and fired a shot into the bottom corner of the net for the first goal of the game
  • The Tartans quickly tied the score, netting a goal in the 58th minute
  • CWRU had three shots for the remainder of the game, but one was saved and two went wide, leading to the tie

Spartan Notes

  • CWRU moved to 11-20-3 all-time against CMU in a series that dates to 1991
  • Pending the outcome of two games on Saturday night, the Spartans can either finish third or fourth in the UAA with 11 points in seven games. The team had a winning record in league play for the fourth time in the last five seasons and just seventh time in program history
  • Dapino joined Farra (11) as double-digit goal scorers on the team, the fourth time in program history a pair of teammates have scored at least 10 goals in a single season (1999, 2021, 2022)
  • The Spartans scored 57 goals in 18 regular season games, the most for any CWRU team in a single campaign without including postseason contests. The team's 3.17 goals per game average would be second-best in team history (3.18 in 2022)
  • Case Western Reserve entered Saturday fourth in NCAA Power Index (NPI) which is used to determine at-large selections to the NCAA Tournament
