Spartan Digest - Fall Week 10/Winter Week One

A preview of the Case Western Reserve University varsity athletic events for the 10th week of the fall season and first week of the winter season (October 27-November 2) and a recap of the events from the previous week of competition October 20-26). Schedule is subject to change with updates posted on athletics.case.edu when they are known.

Last Week's Recap

#6 Women's Soccer (2-0-0, 2-0-0 UAA)

  • Won a pair of road games against nationally ranked opponents, defeating 19th-ranked Brandeis 2-0 on Friday night and 24th-ranked NYU 2-0 on Sunday afternoon
  • Four different Spartans scored in the two games
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Ellie Palaian set the single-season program record with her 11th shutout of 2025 in the second game. She was named the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week

Men's Soccer (1-0-1, 1-0-1 UAA)

  • Earned a 0-0 tie with fifth-ranked Brandeis on Friday night before picking up their first conference win in a 1-0 victory over NYU on Sunday afternoon in a pair of road games
  • Sophomore Ashton McNally scored his first goal of the season in the triumph with an assist from senior McLaren Baggett
  • Senior goalkeeper Bradley Winter secured his ninth and 10th shutouts of the season, setting a single-season program record on Friday night. He received UAA Athlete of the Week honors for his performance

Football (1-0, 1-0 PAC)

  • Won its fourth consecutive contest with a 55-7 victory over Thiel in Greenville, Pennsylvania
  • Senior Joseph Swarm had five tackles, including two for loss and one sack, and added a forced fumble
  • Junior Gabriel Petrozzi hit a 50-yard field goal, made a second field goal, and converted all six of his PAT tries to earn PAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors

Volleyball (1-1, 1-1 UAA)

  • Defeated NYU in five sets before falling to Chicago in four sets on Sunday at the third and final UAA Round Robin hosted by Chicago
  • Senior outside hitter Kalli Wall recorded her 1,000th career kill against the Maroons, finishing the weekend with 31 kills in two matches
  • The Spartans finished conference play with a record of 4-3, receiving the fifth seed in the championship tournament to be held on November 15 and 16 in Waltham, Massachusetts 

#11 Men's and #13 Women's Swimming & Diving (3-0/3-0)

  • Both teams won all three dual meets on Saturday at a pair of locations
  • The Spartan men's team defeated Ohio Wesleyan 172-70 in Delaware, Ohio, bested Centre 275-211, and won 385-69 over Franklin with the latter two duals taking place in Danville, Kentucky
  • The CWRU women's team won 157-116 over OWU, 303.5-182.5 over Centre, and 297-180 over Franklin
