The Case Western Reserve University women's cross country recorded a 25th-place finish at the 2021 NCAA Division III Championships at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday afternoon.
Competing as a team at the national meet for the first time since 2010 and the sixth-time overall in team history, the Spartans scored 583 points to earn their 25th-place finish.
Senior Jana Fisher led the way for the Spartans, finishing 51st overall out of 292 runners in the 6K race. Her time of 21:58.3 was the best of her career.
Senior Susanna Henry was the second CWRU player to cross the finish line, placing 93rd overall with a time of 22:25.0, notching a career-best time for the second-straight week. Senior Julia Kocherzat added a 154th-place finish in a mark of 22:48.7, also a career-best. Completing the Spartans' scoring five were junior Catherine Phillips, who finished 214th with a time of 23:15.8, and sophomore Jessica Kwasny, who placed 252nd in a mark of 23:36.0.
Rounding out CWRU's finishers on Saturday were first-year Medha Patria in 274th place with a time of 24:02.9, and graduate student Grace Kemerer in 275th place with a season-best time of 24:03.9.
Johns Hopkins won the team championship with a score of 130, followed by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in second place with 132 points, and SUNY Geneseo in third with a score of 168. The individual champion was Kassie Rosenbaum of Loras with a time of 20:11.1
Saturday's meet concludes the 2021 season for Case Western Reserve.
