The Case Western Reserve University women's cross country team placed sixth out of 33 teams at the 2021 Inter-Regional Rumble, hosted by Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio on Saturday morning.

Leading the way for the Spartans for the fourth time this season was senior Jana Fisher, who placed fourth out of 303 total runners with a time of 22:14.1 in the 6K race. Senior Susanna Henry added a 16^th-place finish with a time of 22:59.8, followed by senior Julia Kocherzat in 29^th-place with a season-best mark of 23:23.3. Junior Catherine Phillips was the fourth Spartan to cross the finish line, placing 51^st overall with a time of 23:45.44, and first-year Medha Patria locked in the final scoring spot for CWRU with a 90^th-place finish in a time of 24:28.4.

Rounding out the Spartans' top seven were graduate student Grace Kemerer in 101^st place with a time of 24:41.0 and sophomore Jessica Kwasny in 102^nd place with a time of 24:44.4. Other finishers in the varsity race for the Spartans included junior Melissa Phung in 106^th place with a time of 24:48.3, graduate student Olivia Battistoni in 108^th place with a time of 24:50.7, and senior Maddy Nacci in 139^th place with a time of 25:15.3.

Trine's Evie Bultemeyer won the race with a time of 21:14.5. Carnegie Mellon finished first in the team standings with a score of 122, followed by Allegheny (140), Wisconsin-Stevens Point (148), John Carroll (167), Trine (170) and CWRU (184).

In the women's open race, sophomore Grace Jackson was the Spartans' top finisher, placing seventh overall with a time of 24:53.6, while graduate student Elise Epstein finished 11^th in the race with a time of 25:14.1.

The Spartans will now turn their attention towards the 2021 University Athletic Association Championships in two weeks. The conference championship meet, hosted by the University of Rochester, will be held on Saturday, October 30^th.
