Horsburgh Gymnasium

The home of CWRU basketball, wrestling, and volleyball, Horsburgh Gymnasium is located on the South Side of the Case Western Reserve campus in the Veale Center.

Horsburgh Gymnasium was named for Robert G. Horsburgh (GRS, 1914), a former member of the Case Board of Trustees. He was president of the Horsburgh & Scott Company, manufacturers of industrial gears and speed reducers. The Sam W. Emerson (CIT, 1902) Physical Education Center, which houses Horsburgh Gym, was dedicated on May 24, 1957. It was completely refurbished and physically incorporated into the Veale Center with a rededication on April 22, 1998. Prior to 1957, the Case Institute of Technology Rough Riders played their home games at Cathedral Latin High School. Following the merger of the Western Reserve University Red Cat and CIT Rough Rider basketball teams in 1971, Horsburgh became the official home of the Case Western Reserve University Spartan basketball teams.

The facility features a newly refurbished playing court, seating for 1,600 spectators, a press row area equipped with wireless internet, and a lounge area overlooking the court - often used by alumni for special events. Horsburgh hosted three games of the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship, including a quarterfinal matchup, and three games of the 2023 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship.

In addition to hosting athletic events, Horsburgh hosted the 2004 Vice Presidential debate on October 5.
