Martinez won the 133-pound bracket at the Albion Open at the Dow Recreation Center in Albion, Michigan, on Sunday. Martinez went 4-0 at the open to place first in the bracket, his second career first place finish at a meet and first this season. He started the day with a pin in 1:23 over Nick Greene before reaching the semifinal with a 5-1 decision over Thomas Zielinski of Cornerstone. In his penultimate match, Martinez easily bested Olivet's Emmett Kettel by major decision, 19-5. Facing Randy Frailey of Siena Heights in the final, Martinez won by decision 13-6 to claim the bracket. Martinez improved to 10-2 this season with two pins.
