Trunley was named the Most Valuable Player of the Bill Sudeck Tournament after averaging an astounding 33.0 points over the team's two games last weekend, including a program-record 43-point output in the championship contest. Trunley finished the weekend shooting 67.9% overall (19-of-28), 53.8% from three-point range (7-of-13), and 95.5% (21-of-22) from the free throw line. He added 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game over the tournament. In a 99-72 win over Penn State Altoona on Friday, he made eight-of-11 shots overall and four-of-six from long range with seven rebounds, five assists, and a steal. Trunley followed that up on Saturday by setting the school's single-game scoring record against SUNY Brockport, making 11-of-17 shots in the game, including three-of-seven from beyond the arc, and hitting a school-record 18 free throws on 19 attempts. He also collected 10 rebounds for a double-double. His 43-point output was the most by a Division III player this season and the second-most among NCAA players across all three divisions. This is the third straight season that the Spartans have opened 2-0 and claimed the Bill Sudeck Tournament Championship.
