Mahenthiran led the sixth-ranked Spartans to the team's second University Athletic Association championship last weekend. Mahenthiran went 2-1 as the team's no. 1 singles player and 3-0 with junior Rohan Bhat in no. 3 doubles matches. In a 4-1 win over 33rd-ranked Brandeis in the quarterfinals, he and Bhat clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 win over David Galvez and Benjamin Kotzen, before suffering a 6-4, 6-4 setback to Dylan Walters, ranked 31st in Division III. The next day, they earned a 6-1 doubles win over Charley Force and Dean Kamenev and bested 37th-ranked Kamenev 6-1, 6-2 in singles play during a 4-2 semifinal win over fifth-ranked Emory. During the team's 4-1 win over fourth-ranked Chicago on Sunday, Mahenthiran and Bhat claimed a key 7-6 (7-1) win at third doubles, and he went on to beat fifth-ranked Alexander Eckstrand 6-3, 6-4 at no. 1 singles. Mahenthiran, ranked 17th nationally in singles play, stands at 22-11 in singles matches this season and 19-6 in doubles contests. The Spartans improved to 25-5 with the three wins and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive season and the eighth time overall in program history.
