Hannah Kassaie earned All-America honors in both singles and doubles play at the 2023 NCAA Division III Individual Championships at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, last weekend. Kassaie had a program-record-setting run in the singles bracket, advancing the furthest of any Spartan in program history when she reached the quarterfinal round. Seeded fifth in the draw, she bested unseeded Katherine Orgielewicz of Williams 6-1, 6-1 in the first round and advanced to the quarterfinal after Audrey Yoon of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps withdrew due to injury. Kassaie fell in the quarterfinal to top-seeded Olivia Soffer of Babson 3-6, 6-4, 4-6. During the 2022-23 campaign, Kassaie won 21 of her 24 singles matches, the second-most wins in a single season in program history. She also qualified for the doubles championship with fellow sophomore Lily McCloskey. The second-seeded duo fell in the first round to unseeded Brooke Despriet and Katherine Petty of Sewanee in the first round, 4-6, 4-6. Kassaie and McCloskey ended the season with a doubles record of 21-6, earning All-America honors by virtue of receiving the top four seed.
