Cross Country Returns to Action at the Inter-Regional Rumble

The Case Western Reserve University men's and women's cross country teams will travel to nearby Oberlin, Ohio for the 2019 Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday, October 19th.

The day is scheduled to begin with the women's varsity 6K race at 10:30 a.m. and the men's varsity 8K race at 11:15 a.m.  Entries for the varsity races are restricted to the team's top-10 runners.  A women's open 6K race will follow at 12:00 p.m., followed by a men's open 8K race at 12:45 p.m.

The Case Western Reserve women will enter the meet ranked 23rd in Division III and fifth in the Great Lakes Region, according to this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, while the men are ranked 29th nationally and fourth in the Great Lakes Region.  This will be the team's first intercollegiate competition since the Live in Lou Classic on October 5th.

Saturday will also mark the final tune-up for the Spartans before the 2019 University Athletic Association Championships in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 2nd.

In addition to the Spartans, nationally-ranked team scheduled to compete in the women's race include 10th-ranked Oberlin, 19th-ranked Baldwin Wallace, 21st-ranked John Carroll, and 33rd-ranked Washington & Lee.  Nationally-ranked teams competing in the men's race include 11th-ranked Otterbein, 15th-ranked John Carroll, 17th-ranked Bates, 21st-ranked Berea, 23rd-ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point and 34th-ranked Trine.
