Spartans to Run at Live in Lou Cross Country Classic on Saturday

The Case Western Reserve University men's and women's cross country teams will travel to E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky for the 18th-Annual Live in Lou Cross Country Classic on Saturday, October 5th.

Both the men and women will be running in the 'Silver' races at the meet.  The men's 8K is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start, to be followed by the women's 6K at 12:45 p.m.  Live results for the race will be available at

Scheduled to compete at the meet for the CWRU men are senior David Hall, juniors Dmytro Blundell, Yoshmar Pinal-Alfaro and Trey Razanauskas, sophomores Alex Loeper and Spencer Weigand, and first-years Jack Begley and Joe Jaster.  Slated to be in action for the women's team are senior Madeline Lindemann, juniors Kiera Olson and Grace Kemerer, sophomores Jana Fisher and Susanna Henry and first-years Melissa Phung, Danielle Sarno and Stephanie Wroblewski.

133 men's teams and 135 women's squads are currently scheduled to compete across the three levels of college races on Saturday.  The silver race will feature a large number of nationally-ranked Division III teams, serving as a preview for the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships, which will be held at the same course on November 23rd.

The CWRU men's team will enter the weekend ranked 18th in Division III (climbing 12 spots from the previous week for the team's highest national ranking since 1986) and third in the Great Lakes Region, according to the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association polls, while the women are currently ranked 22nd in Division III (their highest national ranking since 2014) and third in the Great Lakes Region.  Both the men and women are coming off a second-place finish among Division III teams at the All-Ohio Championships, with the men placing fifth overall out of 38 teams overall (Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCCA) and the women placing ninth out of all 36 teams at the meet.
