#25 Women’s XC Places Second at All-Ohio Championships

The Case Western Reserve University women's cross country team, ranked 25th in Division III, placed ninth out of 35 teams overall and second among Division III squads at the All-Ohio Championships in Cedarville, Ohio on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans totaled 67 points in the Division III field, finishing behind only 15th-ranked Oberlin (50 points) among Division III teams.  Twenty-second ranked Baldwin Wallace finished third with 73 points.

Making her season debut, senior Madeline Lindemann was the team's top finisher in the 6K, placing 38th overall out of 282 runners and fourth among Division III competitors with a time of 23:31.1.  Junior Kiera Olson was second among Spartans, finishing 47th overall and ninth among the DIII finishers with a time of 23:44.7.  Sophomore Jana Fisher was 15th in Division III and 56th overall with a mark of 23:52.2, while the first-year duo of Stephanie Wroblewski and Melissa Phung rounded out the team's top-five, with the former placing 68th overall and 19th in the Division III field with a time of 24:04.0, and the latter crossing the line immediately after, placing 69th overall and 20th among Division III competitors with a time of 24:06.4.

Completing CWRU's top seven were sophomore Susanna Henry, who was 94th overall and 29th among Division III competitors with a time of 24:32.3 and junior Grace Kemerer, who was 104th overall and 37th in the DIII field with a time of 24:42.9.  Senior Vanessa Pasadyn (112th overall, 44th in DIII, 24:49.0) was the Spartans' final finisher in the 6K Championship race.

Dayton was the top-finishing women's team overall among NCAA Division I, II and III and NAIA teams, while Akron's Mackenzie Andrews was the top finisher with a time of 21:47.5.  The top Division III finisher was Kenyon's Emma Becker, who crossed the line with a mark of 22:44.1.

In the women's 6K open race later in the day, first-year Danielle Sarno was the team's top finisher, placing 13th in the field of 179 runners with a time of 24:44.5.

The Spartans will be back in action next Saturday, October 5th, traveling to Louisville, Kentucky for the Pre-National meet.  The meet will be held at the same course as the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships – Tom Sawyer State Park – giving the Spartans an early preview of both the course and the level of competition at this year's national meet.
