Cross Country Heads to Grand Rapids for Knight Invite

The Case Western Reserve University men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan this weekend for the Knight Invite, hosted by Calvin College on Saturday, September 7th.

The day will begin with the women's 6K race at 10:00 a.m., followed by the men's 8K race at 10:45 a.m.  There will also be a women's open race at 11:30 a.m., with the men's open race scheduled for 12:15 p.m.  Fans can follow the action with live results at http://mt1.timerhub.com/xc.

Currently scheduled to compete for the CWRU women are senior Vanessa Pasadyn, juniors Olivia Battistoni, Cara Giannuzzi, Grace Kemerer, Kiera Olson, and Madison Vargo, sophomores Jana Fisher, Susanna Henry, Julia Kocherzat, and Maddy Nacci, and freshmen Rae Dwyer, Melissa Phung, Danielle Sarno, and Stephanie Wroblewski

Slated to compete for the CWRU men are seniors Tim Andrews, David Hall, Michael Hradesky, and Karthik Ravichandran, juniors Dmytro Blundell, Yoshmar Pinal-Alfaro, and Eric Rachita, sophomores Alex Loeper, Logan Singer, and Spencer Weigand, and freshmen Jack Begley, Joe Jaster, Robert St. Clair, and Parker Straight.

The meet will give the Spartans and early look at the course, which will also host the 2019 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Meet later in the season.  In addition, it will provide CWRU with a gauge of their competition this year, with a number of ranked teams in the region slated to compete.

The CWRU men will enter the meet ranked 19th in Division III and third in the Great Lakes Region, according to the latest USTFCCCA polls, while the women are ranked ninth in the region entering the weekend.

Results and a recap of the Spartans performances at the meet will be posted to athletics.case.edu following the completion of competition on Saturday.
