32nd-Ranked CWRU Women’s Cross Country Finishes Seventh at UAAs

The 32nd-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's cross country team finished in seventh place at the 2018 University Athletic Association Championships, hosted by the University of Chicago at the Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon.

Junior Madeline Lindemann was the team's top finisher, narrowly missing All-UAA honors with a 15th-place finish among the field of 79 runners in the 6K race.  Lindemann crossed the finish line in a time of 22:46.6.

The Spartans' next three runners all finished in a close pack, led by sophomore Kiera Olson in 35th place with a time of 23:29.6.  Senior Isa Torres-Padin followed in 37th place with a mark of 23:36.6, and was tailed closely by senior Ellen Sears with a time of 23:39.9.  Completing the Spartans' five scorers was senior Marissa Miyagi, who was 44th overall with a time of 23:45.5.

Other finishers for CWRU on Sunday included senior Jennifer Hoffmann (50th place, 23:55.9), senior Sophie Trikeriotis (53rd place, 24:02.7), junior Vanessa Pasadyn (57th place, 24:08.5), sophomore Cara Giannuzzi (61st place, 24:24.5) and freshman Susanna Henry (67th place, 24:51.6).

Washington University, ranked second in Division III, won the meet with a score of 24, placing all five of their scoring runners in the top-10, including individual UAA Champion Paige Lawler, who won the race with a time of 21:15.7.  Following the Bears in the standings were 12th-ranked Chicago (71), eighth-ranked Brandeis (73), 18th-ranked Rochester (123), 17th-ranked Emory (126) and 25th-ranked Carnegie Mellon (147).  NYU placed eighth overall with a score of 248.

The Spartans will be off next weekend, as the team prepares for the 2018 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships, hosted by Franklin University in Shelbyville, Indiana on Saturday, November 10th.
