The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team is set to travel to Chicago, Illinois for the 2019 University Athletic Association Volleyball Championships hosted by the University of Chicago at the Ratner Athletics Center.

The Spartans will open the championships in the quarterfinals on Friday, November 8th at 3:00 p.m. ET against the 25th-ranked Washington (Mo.) University Bears. Live stats and video links will be posted to the tournament website and the volleyball schedule page once made available. With a win, CWRU will play at 5:00 p.m. ET in the semifinal, or with a loss, the team will play in the consolation semifinal at 7:00 p.m. ET.
CWRU (11-15, 2-5 UAA) will look to continue a strong attack at the net by senior outside hitter Brianna Lemon, senior middle hitter Haley Sims and junior middle hitter Katie Kaminski. Lemon leads the team with 2.68 kills per set, while Kaminski paces the team with a .308 hitting percentage and Sims leads the squad with 86 total blocks this season. Leading the team in assists, senior Faith Ellis averages 4.87 per set. Junior libero Jana Giaquinto is the defensive leader recording 3.75 per set.
The Spartans and Bears played earlier this season, during the 2019 UAA Round Robin #1. CWRU lost 3-0 with scores 25-18, 25-21 and 28-26. Case Western Reserve was paced by Kaminski who recorded nine kills. The Bears were led by Alaina Bohrer who tallied 14 kills.
WashU (21-7, 5-2 UAA) has an edge on opponents with Michaela Bach who averages 2.81 kills per set and 2.04 digs per set. Tricia Brown also contributes on the attack with 2.72 kills per set. Kirby Knapp serves as the main setter for the Bears averaging 9.93 assists per set. In the back row, Zoe Baxter averages a team-high 4.18 digs per game.
