The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team swept a pair of matches in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, defeating the College of Wooster 3-1, and claiming a 3-0 victory over Buffalo State College in the late affair.
The Spartans improve to 11-15 on the season, while Wooster dropped to 11-15 and Buffalo State fell to 7-17 overall.
CWRU defeated the Fighting Scots in the first match of the day 25-13, 25-19, 19-25 and 27-25.
Senior outside hitter Karley King led the Spartans with 16 kills, while junior middle hitter Katie Kaminski collected 12. Senior setter Faith Ellis led the team with 23 assists and also added 16 digs. Defensively, junior libero Jana Giaquinto recorded a team-high 20 digs, while junior setter Jordyn Harberts tallied 10.
CWRU then defeated Buffalo State in straight sets, 25-9, 25-5 and 25-17. The Spartans performance was highlighted by a .373 hitting percentage throughout the match.
Senior outside hitter Brianna Lemon paced the Spartans on the attack with a team-best nine kills, while King and senior middle hitter Haley Sims each added seven to the tally. Ellis led the team with 14 assists, while freshman setter Sara Rogers tallied 12. Giaquinto led the Spartan defense with 14 digs, while Lemon contribute 10.
Case Western Reserve will conclude their season at the 2019 University Athletic Association Championships in Chicago, Illinois. The team will begin competition on Friday, November 8th.
