CWRU Volleyball to Play Two Matches at Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday

The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team will play two matches in Delaware, Ohio on Saturday. The first match is against DePauw University at 3:30 p.m. and the second against Ohio Wesleyan University at 5:30 p.m.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the Spartans and Tigers.

CWRU and Ohio Wesleyan will be facing each other for the third consecutive season, as the Spartans won last year's match in four sets, 25-21, 25-15, 19-25 and 25-21.

Saturday, October 26th, 5:30 PM:

CWRU Spartans (8-14)

The Spartans are led on the attack by senior outside hitter Brianna Lemon, who averages 2.57 kills per set. Lemon also contributes a team-best 3.49 digs per set defensively. Senior setter Faith Ellis is averaging a team-high 4.74 assists per match, while junior libero Jana Giaquinto is tallying on average 3.34 digs per game defensively.

DePauw Tigers (14-8)

The Tigers are led by senior right side hitter Morgan Stearley who averages 4.22 kills per set. Sophomore outside hitter Sarah Herman also contributes to the attack with 3.13 kills per set. Sophomore Grace Filbrun serves as the main setter for DePauw averaging 6.03 assists per set. In the back row, sophomore defensive specialist Jenna Purichia averages a team-high 4.60 digs per set.

Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops (9-13)

The Battling Bishops are led by senior outside hitter Jordan Brandt who averages 3.01 kills per set. Freshman outside hitter Eliza Richardson also contributes to the attack with 2.89 kills per set, as well as adding 1.84 digs per set. Junior Molly Jewett serves as the main setter for Ohio Wesleyan averaging 8.73 assists per set. In the back row, junior defensive specialist Meghan Schwallie averages a team-high 4.57 digs per set.

Spartan Notes

Junior middle hitter Katie Kaminski currently ranks fifth among all players in the University Athletic Association with a .317 hitting percentage…Kaminski and senior middle hitter Haley Sims have each tallied 13 solo blocks on the season, which currently ranks tied for fourth among UAA players…The Spartans are averaging 11.20 kills per set, 10.31 assists per set and 1.57 blocks per set this season.
