CWRU Volleyball to Play at Hiram; Host UAA Round Robin #3 on Sunday

The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team will travel to Hiram, Ohio to face Hiram College on Wednesday, October 16th at 7:00 p.m., before preparing to host the University Athletic Association Round Robin #3 on Sunday, October 20th.

The Spartans are set to play top-ranked Emory University at 10:00 a.m. and the University of Rochester at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday to conclude the third University Athletic Association Round Robin.

CWRU Spartans (6-13, 1-4 UAA)

The Spartans suffered a 3-1 loss to Heidelberg University on Thursday. Senior Brianna Lemon paced the squad with 13 kills, while senior Karley King chipped in 11 to the attack. Senior Faith Ellis set up the offense with 23 assists, while freshman Sara Rogers added eight.

Defensively, junior Jana Giaquinto had a Spartan-best 17 digs and junior middle hitter Katie Kaminski contributed 16.

Hiram Terriers (12-10)

The Terries will enter Wednesday's match coming off a 3-0 win over Hanover College on Saturday. Jaya Martin recorded a team-high 14 kills. Emily Chrustic set up the offense with 22 assists, while Mackenzie Brannon added 25 digs.

For the season, Hiram has averaged 11.68 kills per set, 11.02 assists per set and 1.54 blocks per set. Kayla Cole leads the Terriers with 227 kills, while Lindsey Walker is close behind with 208. Chrustic sets up the offense as she has tallied 701 assists for the season. Defensively, Lindsey Stahl has totaled 322 digs, while Walker has contributed 253 to the team total.

#1 Emory Eagles (16-1, 5-0 UAA)

The Eagles have averaged 13.02 kills per set, 12.07 assists per set and 2.05 blocks per set. Leah Saunders currently leads Emory with 192 kills and Cassie Srb has set up the Tartans offense with 598 assists. Defensively, Elyse Thompson has recorded a team-high 230 digs, while Finn Wilkins has registered 36 total blocks.

Emory will face Covenant and Hendrix during the week, before facing the Spartans on Sunday. The Eagles will conclude the third UAA Round Robin against the University of Chicago at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Rochester (N.Y.) Yellowjackets (8-15, 0-5 UAA)

The Yellowjackets have averaged 9.7 kills per set, 9.1 assists per set and 1.4 blocks per set this season. Tamera Shaw currently leads Rochester with 162 kills and Isabelle Miranda has set up the Yellowjackets offense with 275 assists. Defensively, Sara Apanavicius has recorded a team-high 288 digs, while Shaw has registered 53 total blocks.

Rochester will open the Round Robin against Chicago at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, before facing the Spartans at 12:00 p.m.
