CWRU Volleyball to Play at Oberlin on Saturday

The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team will travel to Oberlin, Ohio this weekend to face the Oberlin College Yeowomen in a non-conference matchup. The Spartans are scheduled to face the Yeowomen at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28th.

CWRU and Oberlin will be facing each other for the third consecutive season, as the Spartans won last year's match 25-21, 24-26, 25-13 and 25-22.

Saturday, September 28th, 2:00 PM:

CWRU Spartans (4-11)

The Spartans are led on the attack by senior outside hitter Brianna Lemon, who averages 2.31 kills per set. Lemon also currently ranks first on the team with 3.55 digs per set. Senior setter Faith Ellis is averaging a team-high 4.89 assists per set, while senior middle hitter Haley Sims is tallying on average 0.84 blocks per set defensively.

Oberlin Yeowomen (7-6)

The Yeowomen are led by senior outside hitter Maura Gibbs who averages 2.84 kills per set, as well as adding 3.22 digs per set. Sophomore middle hitter Emery Beacom also contributes to the attack with 2.50 kills per set. Senior Samantha Lam serves as the main setter for Oberlin averaging 6.34 assists per set. In the back row, sophomore defensive specialist Zoe Kuzbari averages a team-high 3.23 digs per set.

Oberlin is scheduled to play Kenyon College on Friday night, before hosting the Spartans on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Katie Kaminski currently ranks fifth in the University Athletic Association with a .346 hitting percentage…CWRU leads the UAA with 931 digs, and ranks third with an average of 16.33 digs per set…The Spartans are averaging 11.47 kills per set, 10.61 assists per set and 1.53 blocks per set this season.
