The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team is set to travel to Rochester, New York for the 2018 University Athletic Association Volleyball Championships hosted by the University of Rochester at the Louis Alexander Palestra.

The Spartans will open the championships in the quarterfinals on Friday, November 2nd at 2:00 p.m. against the Carnegie Mellon University Tartans. LIVE STATS and VIDEO will be available during the match. In order to view the video, there will be a $6.95 sign up fee. With a win, CWRU will play at 4:00 p.m. in the semifinal, or with a loss, the team will play in the consolation semifinal at 6:00 p.m.
CWRU (17-12, 3-4 UAA) will look to continue a strong attack at the net by junior outside hitter Karley King and sophomore middle blocker Katie Kaminski. King leads the team with 3.32 kills per set, while Kaminski paces the team with a .364 hitting percentage and 63 total blocks this season. Leading the team in assists, junior Faith Ellis averages 5.94 per set. Sophomore libero Anna Jaskoviak is the defensive leader recording 4.81 digs per set.
The Spartans and Tartans played earlier this season during the 2018 UAA Round Robin #2. CWRU lost 3-1 with scores 25-18, 25-19, 19-25 and 25-18. Case Western Reserve was paced by King and Kaminski who recorded 12 and 11 kills, respectively. The Tartans were led by senior outside hitter Lauren Mueller who tallied 20 kills.
Carnegie Mellon (21-8, 5-2 UAA) has an edge on opponents with Mueller who averages 3.38 kills per set and 3.10 digs per set. Senior Sarah Jurgens also contributes to the attack with 3.13 kills per set. Junior Maia So-Holloway serves as the main setter for the Tartans averaging 10.15 assists per set. In the back row, junior libero Kayla Yew averages a team-high 5.25 digs per game.
