CWRU Volleyball to Host Hiram on Senior Night; Play at Wooster on Saturday

The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team will prepare to host Hiram College on Wednesday, October 24th at 7:00 p.m. in Horsburgh Gymnasium, before traveling to Wooster, Ohio to face the College of Wooster on Saturday, October 27th at 1:00 p.m.

Wednesday's match will also serve as the senior night celebration, to recognize the fine accomplishments of the three senior Spartan volleyball players who have given their time and hard work to the program.

CWRU Spartans (17-10)

The Spartans won a pair of matches in Delaware, Ohio on Saturday, defeating Allegheny College 3-0, and then earning a 3-1 victory over Ohio Wesleyan University. Sophomore middle blocker Katie Kaminski led the Spartans during the two matches, finishing with 26 kills on a team-leading .676 hitting percentage. Sophomore libero Anna Jaskoviak tallied a team-high 34 digs (4.86 per set) throughout the two matches.

For the season, CWRU is led by junior outside hitter Karley King and Kaminski, who average 3.23 and 2.33 kills per set, respectively. Junior setter Faith Ellis records 5.85 assists per set for the Spartan offense, while Jaskoviak tallies a team-high 4.75 digs per set for the season.

Hiram Terriers (18-3)

Hiram is currently led by sophomore outside hitter Kayla Cole who averages 4.20 kills per set as well as 2.69 digs per set. Senior setter Holly Hoffman leads the Terriers in assists, averaging 10.70 per set. Defensively, sophomore defensive specialist Lindsey Stahl picks up 3.74 digs per set.

Wooster Fighting Scots (13-10)

The Fighting Scots are led by senior middle hitter Ashley Plassard who averages 2.56 kills per set and senior middle hitter Marija Cyvas who adds 1.95 kills per set. Sophomore setter Meghan Botsch serves as the main setter for Wooster averaging 8.58 assists per set. In the back row, senior libero Gabrielle Basinski averages a team-high 4.60 digs per set.

Wooster will travel to Granville, Ohio to face Denison University on Wednesday, October 24th, before hosting the Spartans in Timken Gymnasium on Saturday.

Junior Karley King currently ranks third among all University Athletic Association players with 300 kills and ranks fourth with 3.23 kills per set…Sophomore Katie Kaminski ranks fourth in the UAA with a .361 hitting percentage, while sophomore Anna Jaskoviak ranks second with 442 digs and third with an average of 4.75 digs per set…The Spartans are averaging 12.73 kills per set, 11.90 assists per set and 2.05 blocks per set this season.
