The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team split a pair of matches to close out the No One Fights Alone Invitational, hosed by Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio. The Spartans defeated Hanover College 3-1, but fell 3-0 to Otterbein University.
CWRU moves to 10-6 on the campaign, while Hanover dropped to 7-6 and Otterbein improved to 11-4 on the season.
Versus Hanover, the Spartans were victorious by counts of 25-13, 25-23, 17-25 and 25-14.
Statistically, junior outside hitter Karley King posted a game-high 16 kills and junior middle hitter Haley Sims and sophomore middle blocker Katie Kaminski each added 11 to the team total. Junior setter Faith Ellis led in assists with 25, while sophomore setter Jordyn Harberts registered 21. Sophomore libero Anna Jaskoviak tallied a team-high 19 digs and senior defensive specialist Noel Jeansonne contributed 18 digs.
Hanover was led by Madie Snyder who tallied a team-best 11 kills.
Against Otterbein, the Spartans fell by scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-19.
King and freshman outside hitter Lauren Carmon led the attack as they each registered 10 kills. Ellis and Harberts split the setting duties with 15 and 13 assists, respectively. The Spartan back row was paced Carmon with a team-high 14 digs and Harberts with 11.
Otterbein was led by Hadley Sterett with 14 kills and six digs.
Case Western Reserve will be back in action on Wednesday, September 26th, when they return home to Horsburgh Gymnasium to host Oberlin College. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
