The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team earned two more wins at home on Saturday, defeating St. Mary-of-the-Woods College 3-0 in the early match and Defiance College 3-0 in the late affair to complete a perfect 3-0 weekend at the CWRU Invitational.
Case Western Reserve and Hiram College were named co-champions of the CWRU Invite, as they both went 3-0 throughout the tournament.
Junior outside hitter Brianna Lemon was named the Spartans representative on the All-Tournament team, after recording 31 kills during the three matches. She added 30 digs, while hitting .386.
The Spartans opened the day with a 25-18, 25-22 and 25-14 win over the Pomeroys, paced by Lemon's 14-kill match. Sophomore middle blocker Katie Kaminski added 11 kills on 16 attacks during the match for a .562 hitting percentage, while sophomore setter Jordyn Harberts and junior setter Faith Ellis registered 21 and 20 assists, respectively. Defensively, sophomore libero Anna Jaskoviak led the squad with 19 digs, while Lemon contributed 10 to the team total.
St. Mary-of-the-Woods dropped to 2-6 on the season with the loss.
In the second match of the day against Defiance, the Spartans earned a 3-0 win, 25-16, 25-19 and 25-17. Junior outside hitter Karley King paced the team with 12 kills. Ellis tallied a team-high 25 assists, while Harberts contributed 16. Jaskoviak once again led CWRU in digs with 25 and Lemon added 12 to the team total.
With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fell to 1-7 overall in 2018.
Case Western Reserve will return to action when they travel to Alliance, Ohio to take on the University of Mount Union on Wednesday, September 12th at 7:30 p.m.
