CWRU Volleyball to Embark on an International Trip to Spain

The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team will leave for an international preseason trip to Spain on Monday, August 6th.  The nine-day trip will provide the team with an opportunity for sightseeing and preseason bonding, in addition to having the chance to play a pair of matches against foreign opponents.

"Our team is excited to embark on our trip to Spain," said CWRU Head Coach Karen Farrell.  "The first international trip to Italy in 2015 launched a historic season for our program and we look forward to creating foundational bonds through the shared experiences of learning about another country's history and culture. Having the opportunity to play volleyball and then join our opponents for a meal afterwards is a really unique aspect of the international competition."

The Spartans are scheduled to begin their trip in Madrid, where they will tour the city and the royal palace, in addition to visiting the Prado Museum.  CWRU players will also have an opportunity to tour the cities of Toledo and Valencia, including a day at the beach and a paella dinner in Valencia. The tour will conclude with two days in Barcelona, which includes a guided city tour and a visit to the Sagrada Familia Cathedral.

CWRU will also have a pair of exhibition matches during the trip, taking on teams in both Madrid and Valencia.
