The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team is set to travel to Atlanta, Georgia for the 2017 University Athletic Association Volleyball Championships hosted by Emory University at the Woodruff Physical Education Center.

The Spartans will open the championships in the quarterfinals on Friday, November 3rd at 2:00 p.m. against the seventh-ranked Emory University Eagles. LIVE STATS and VIDEO will be available during the match. With a win, CWRU will play at 4:00 p.m. in the semifinal, or with a loss, the team will play in the consolation semifinal at 6:00 p.m.
CWRU (17-11, 4-3 UAA) will look to continue a strong attack at the net by sophomore outside hitter Brianna Lemon and sophomore middle hitter Haley Sims. Lemon serves as a double threat, tallying 3.05 kills per set as well as 3.34 digs per set. Sims paces the team with a .292 hitting percentage and 68 total blocks this season. Leading the team in assists, sophomore Faith Ellis averages 7.93 per set. Junior libero Karina Bondelid is the defensive leader recording 2.81 digs per set.
The Spartans and Eagles played earlier this season during the 2017 UAA Round Robin #2. CWRU lost 3-0 with scores 25-23, 25-14 and 25-15. Case Western Reserve was paced by Lemon and sophomore outside hitter Karley King who recorded seven and six kills, respectively. The Eagles were led by sophomore outside hitter Morgan McKnight who tallied 16 kills.
Emory (25-5, 4-3 UAA) has an edge on opponents with sophomore outside hitter Sara Carr who averages 3.20 kills per set. McKnight also contributes to the attack with 2.96 kills per set and as well as 1.02 digs per set. Junior Mady Arles serves as the main setter for the Eagles averaging 6.29 assists per set. In the back row, sophomore libero Elyse Thompson averages a team-high 5.21 digs per game.
