The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team beat St. Lawrence University 3-1 (25-17, 18-25, 25-20, 25-17) on Friday night in Buffalo, New York at the Buffalo State Bengal Challenge.
The Spartans improved to 6-3 on the season and head into the second day of competition at the Bengal Challenge. St. Lawrence drops to 8-2 with the loss.
CWRU was led on the attack by sophomore outside hitter Brianna Lemon who tallied 15 kills. Sophomore middle hitter Haley Sims contributed 13 kills and sophomore outside hitter Karley King added 10 kills. Sophomore setter Faith Ellis rounded up 22 assists, while freshman setter Jiayi Shen registered 17.
In the back court for the Spartans, junior libero Noel Jeansonne and Lemon each tallied a team-high nine digs, Shen and junior defensive specialist Karina Bondelid each contributed six throughout the match.
At the net, Sims and King each contributed two total blocks, while Lemon and freshman outside hitter Anna Jaskoviak each added one total block to the tally.
The Spartans will be back in action at the Buffalo State Bengal Challenge in Buffalo, New York on Saturday. CWRU will open play against Fredonia at 1:00 p.m. and then conclude the tournament with a match at 3:00 p.m. against host Buffalo State.
