The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team is set to travel to St. Louis, Missouri for the 2016 University Athletic Association Volleyball Championships hosted by Washington University (Mo.) at the Field House.

The Spartans will open the championships in the quarterfinals on Friday, November 4th at 3:00 p.m. against the 14th-ranked Washington University Bears. LIVE STATS and VIDEO will be available during the match. With a win, CWRU will play at 5:00 p.m. in the semifinal, or with a loss, the team will play in the consolation semifinal at 7:00 p.m.
CWRU (20-8, 2-5 UAA) will look to continue a strong attack at the net led by freshman outside hitter Brianna Lemon and freshman middle hitter Haley Sims. Lemon serves as a double threat, tallying 3.37 kills per set as well as 1.57 digs per set. Sims paces the team with a .284 hitting percentage and 101 total blocks this season. Leading the team in assists, sophomore Shannon Carroll averages 8.45 per set. Sophomore libero Karina Bondelid is the defensive leader recording 4.10 digs per set.
The Spartans and the Bears played earlier this season during the 2016 UAA Round Robin #2. CWRU lost 3-0 with scores 25-19, 25-18, and 25-19. Case Western Reserve was paced by Lemon and freshman outside hitter Karley King who recorded 14 and five kills, respectively. The Bears were led by senior outside hitter Rexi Sheredy who tallied 12 kills.
Washington University (Mo.) (20-9, 5-2 UAA) has an edge on opponents with senior middle Caroline Dupont who averages 2.71 kills per set. Sophomore outside hitter Ifeoma Ufondu also contributes to the attack with 2.51 kills per set as well as 1.08 digs per set. Freshman Chloe Stile serves as the main setter for the Bears averaging 9.04 assists per set. In the back row, freshman defensive specialist Zoe Baxter averages a team-high 3.83 digs per game.
