The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team picked up a pair wins at Wooster on Saturday, defeating Denison University and then the College of Wooster 3-0.
The Spartans improve to 20-8 on the season, while the Denison drops to 11-15 and Wooster moves to 17-9 overall.
CWRU defeated the Big red in the first match of the day 25-17, 25-19, 25-19. The Spartans performance was highlighted by seven service aces throughout the three sets.
Freshman outside hitter Brianna Lemon led the Spartans with 10 kills, while freshman outside hitter Karley King collected nine. Sophomore Shannon Carroll led the team with 20 assists, while freshman Faith Ellis tallied 13. Defensively, Lemon recorded a team-high 11 digs.
CWRU would go on to earn another three-set victory over Wooster, 25-14, 25-22, 25-18. Lemon again paced the Spartans on the attack with a team-best 16 kills, while King added eight to the tally. Carroll led the team with 21 assists, while also tallying 11 digs. Sophomore libero Karina Bondelid led Spartan defense with 14 digs, while freshman defensive specialist Christine Tamura contribute nine.
The Spartans will conclude their season at the 2016 University Athletic Association Championships in St. Louis, Missouri. The team will begin competition in the quarterfinal match against Washington University (Mo.) on Friday, November 4th at 3:00 p.m.
