Spartan Volleyball Falls in Four Against Heidelberg

The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team fell to Heidelberg University in four sets on Saturday afternoon in Horsburgh Gymnasium.

The Spartans drop to 12-3 overall, while the Student Princes improve to 9-6 by set scores of 18-25, 25-21, 25-16 and 25-17.

Statistically, freshman outside hitter Brianna Lemon posted a team-high 12 kills. Senior outside hitter Marian Barton and freshman outside hitter Karley King recorded 10 and eight kills, respectively. Sophomore setter Shannon Carroll led in assists with 38.

On defense, sophomore libero Karina Bondelid totaled 20 digs. Freshman middle hitter Haley Sims tallied a team-high four block assists.

Heidelberg was led by Sarah Parker with 21 kills and nine block assists.

The Spartans will return to action in one-weeks' time for the University Athletic Association Round Robin #1 hosted by Carnegie Mellon University. CWRU is set to play Saturday, October 1st against New York University at 2:00 p.m. and then against Rochester University at 4:00 p.m. On Sunday, October 2nd, the Spartans are scheduled to play against Emory University at 12:00 p.m.
