CWRU Track & Field Hits the Road for the Joe Banks Invitational

The Case Western Reserve University men's and women's track and field teams are prepared to travel to Ada, Ohio for the Joe Banks Invitational, hosted by Ohio Northern University, on Saturday, February 1st in the ONU Sports Center.

Action at the meet is slated to begin with field events at 11:00 a.m., followed by track events set to begin at noon.

Last weekend, the Spartans fell to University Athletic Association rival Carnegie Mellon University, 163-108, in the 12th-Annual Battle for the Obelisk.

The men's and women's squads combined to gather nine individual titles and one relay title, including senior Dominic Oddo's three individual titles. Oddo took first place in the long jump with a jump of 6.88 meters, high jump with a mark of 1.75 meters and the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.74 seconds. Senior Jonathan Haling was the other individual Spartan winner on the men's side, claiming first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.36 seconds.

For the women, junior Eleanor Gaddy claimed first in the shot put with a toss of 11.53 meters, senior Bailey Flint won the high jump with a mark of 1.60 meters, junior Taylor Jackson won the weight throw with a toss of 15.34 meters, senior Samantha Kelts placed first in the triple jump with a mark of 10.50 meters and junior Julie Hines finished first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.26.

Schools currently scheduled to attend the meet, in addition to Case Western Reserve and host Ohio Northern, include Bluffton, Capital, Cedarville, Hanover, Heidelberg, John Carroll, Manchester, Otterbein, Wilmington and Wittenberg.
