Laios & Oddo Compete on Day 2 at NCAA Outdoor Championships

Case Western Reserve University graduate student Cassandra Laios and junior Dominic Oddo each competed at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

After entering the day in ninth place in the men's decathlon with 3,552 points during the first day of competition, Oddo opened the second day of the event with a time of 15.65 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, good for 10th overall, and adding 773 points to his score. He then earned an 11th place finish in the discus (32.76m, 519 points) and 16th place finish in the pole vault (3.60m, 509 points). Oddo concluded the event with a 16th place finish in the javelin (40.00m, 442 points) and an eighth place finish in the 1,500-meter run (4:43.27, 660 points). He placed 14th overall in the event with a score of 6,455 points.

A day removed from placing seventh in the discus, Laios finished 22nd overall in the shot put with a mark of 12.12 meters.

Laios and sophomore Trey Razanauskas will continue competition at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships tomorrow. Laios is set to compete in the women's hammer throw at 11:00 a.m., while Razanauskas will compete in the men's 5,000-meter run at 3:25 p.m.
