Oddo Breaks School Record at Polar Bear Last Chance Meet

Junior Dominic Oddo highlighted the performances for the Case Western Reserve University track and field teams, setting a new school-record at the 2019 Polar Bear Last Chance Meet hosted by Ohio Northern University.

Oddo set a new school-record in the men's heptathlon with a score of 4,709 points. His 4,709 points breaks his previous school record of 4,615 points set at the 2018 All-Ohio Division III Multi-Events Championships.

Oddo placed second in four of the seven events throughout the two-day meet. He claimed second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.37 (755 points) and also earned a second-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.65 meters (732 points). Oddo placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.79 (793 points) and then finished second in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:57.59 (688 points). Oddo also added a third-place finish in the pole vault (3.80m, 562 points), finished tied for fourth in the high jump (1.81m, 636 points) and placed fifth in the shot put (10.95m, 543 points).

Juniors Michael HradeskyAbbey Waltz and Shahed Eid also competed on Saturday.

Hradesky finished first in the 800-meter run after crossing the finish line with a time of 1:58.43. Waltz placed fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.41 meters and Eid finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a season-best time of 2:24.46.

A total of 20 men and 20 women will be selected to compete on the national stage at each event and that will be announced Monday.

Should any Spartan earn a bid to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, the competition is set to begin on Friday, March 8th and go through Saturday, March 9th in Boston, Massachusetts at the Reggie Lewis Center.
