Kulpins Selected to Compete in 3K Steeplechase at NCAAs

Case Western Reserve University senior Danielle Kulpins was named to the field for the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, to be hosted by the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse in La Crosse, Wisconsin from May 24th – 26th.

Kulpins was one of 22 women selected to compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Championships.  In addition to being a program record, her qualification time of 10:40.17, record at the All-Ohio Championships, ranks as the fourth fastest among Division III competitors this season.

The preliminaries of the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase will be held on Thursday, May 24th at 5:00 p.m. central time.  The top five finishers from each of the two preliminary heats, along with the next four fastest times, will advance to the finals on Saturday, May 26th at 11:45 a.m. central time.  The top-eight finishers of the finals will receive All-America honors.

Kulpins becomes the first CWRU woman to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships since 2012, when both Erin Hollinger (high jump and heptathlon) and Amanda Kline (discus throw) were selected to the field for the national meet.

More information on the NCAA Championships will be posted to athletics.case.edu leading up to the event.
