Case Western Reserve University senior Nimi Gupta of the women's track and field team competed at the Campbell / Wright Invitational, hosted by the University of Akron, in Akron. Ohio on Friday.
Gupta earned entry into the invitational via the women's hammer throw after she hit a mark of 50.48 meters at the 2018 University Athletic Association Championships last weekend. The entry standards for Non-Division I athletes for the women's hammer throw was 50.00 meters.
With a toss of 40.77 meters, Gupta finished competition in sixth place at the invitational.
Prior to Friday's competition, Gupta ranked No. 22 in Division III with a toss of 50.48 meters.
Select members of the Spartans track and field team will continue competition throughout the next couple of weeks, as they try improve on their qualifying marks for the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
