Case Western Reserve University senior Cassandra Laios was named the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for women's field, following her performance at the 2018 All-Ohio Indoor Championships on Saturday.
Laios led the Spartan women to a sixth-place finish at the meet, as she claimed the title in the weight throw with a school-record mark of 17.92 meters, besting her previous school record of 17.62 meters. She also added a second-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 13.26 meters.
Laios' mark of 17.92 meters in the weight throw currently ranks first in the University Athletic Association and fourth among Division III competitors, while her toss in the shot put was the best in the UAA this week.
This was Laios' eighth career UAA Athlete of the Week honor.
