NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Junior distance runner Kelsey Aamoth (Solon, Ohio/Solon), senior thrower Emeline Liu (River Vale, N.J./Pascack Valley) and freshman thrower Cassandra Laios (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) represented the Case Western Reserve University women's track and field team at the 2015 North Central College Gregory Final Qualifier Track and Field Meet at the Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium and Jay & Dot Buikema Track.
In the 5,000-meter run, Aamoth finished fifth in a field of 35 runners. Despite not improving upon her career-best time of 17:20.52 which she recorded earlier this season, Aamoth crossed the finish line with a final time of 17:38.28.
Liu took the field in the hammer throw finishing eighth of 23 competitors with a toss of 47.6 meters on her fifth throw.
After tossing 11.60 meters to make the finals in the shot put, Laios improved her mark with a heave of 12.35 meters for fifth place on her fifth throw of the day.
The Spartans will return to action for the second day of meet tomorrow in hopes of improving marks and times to compete in the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
