ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University women's track & field team competed at the Jim Wuske Invitational hosted by The University of Mount Union on Saturday afternoon at The McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
Field events yielded CWRU's top performances on the day.
In her second attempt in the weight throw, sophomore Temi Omilabu (Katy, Texas/Seven Hills) hit a mark of 13.96m to place seventh.
In the long jump, freshman Skylar Braga (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central) leapt a career-best 4.97m for a fifth-place finish, while sophomore Ashley Leyden (Atco, N.J./St. Joseph) jumped 4.77m, which is also a career best.
The Spartans were able to capture three top-10 spots in the triple jump. Leyden carried herself 10.19 meters for a third-place finish. Freshmen Rachel Willard (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and Mareshah Sowah (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly) jumped 10.12m and 9.64m for fourth and ninth place, respectively.
On the track, freshman Marie-Louise Kolste (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) placed sixth in the 500m dash, stopping the clock for a time of 1:25.71. In the 5,000m run freshman Hayley Yocum (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) finished sixth with a time of 19:59.80. Junior Juliana Ross (New York, N.Y./Bronx Science) took ninth in the 800m run in 2:34.48.
The Spartans are back in action at two different locations next weekend. Part of the squad will take part in the BW Mid-February Meet in Berea on Friday, February 13 (5:00 p.m.), while the team's top scorers will compete at the All-Ohio Championship in Westerville on Saturday, Feb. 14 (12:00 p.m.).
