Pair of Spartan Women Win at Greater Cleveland Championship

BEREA, Ohio – Sophomore Asante Brown (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton) won two field events to lead a small contingent from the Case Western Reserve University women's track & field team at the 2014 Greater Cleveland Championship hosted on Friday at the Harrison Dillard Track.

Most of the team's top scorers rested this week in preparation of next weekend's conference championship meet.

Brown won the long jump with a mark of 15 feet, 11 inches as well as the triple jump with a leap that cleared 33 feet (33'09.25").

Fellow sophomore Taylor O'Neil (Dayton, Ohio/Carroll) was also a winner as she bested the field in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:28.96.

CWRU next competes at the University Athletic Association Indoor Championship Meet, hosted by Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. The two-day event begins on Friday, February 28 at noon.
