The 29th-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team cruised to its fourth win of the season, defeating Otterbein University 9-0 at the Cleveland Skating Club on Sunday evening.
The Spartans improved to 4-3 on the year with the win, while Otterbein dropped to 5-1.
CWRU started off the day strong, taking all three doubles matches to open with a 3-0 advantage over Otterbein. Junior Nicole Cardwell and first-year Shreya Ramani earned an 8-2 victory over Sydney Bergman and Makayla Sutter at first doubles, while junior Mira Amin and first-year Nina Hoog claimed an 8-0 decision over Rachelle Moses and Kristen Zink at third doubles. Sophomores Sneha Karnam and Nidhi Jha closed out the doubles victories, as they picked up an 8-5 victory over Marriella Briones and Madison Mueller at second doubles.
In singles action, Cardwell bested Sutter at second singles, 6-2, 6-0, and junior Madeleine Paolucci claimed a 6-2, 6-0 win over Bergman at no. 1 singles. Also claiming wins for the Spartans on Sunday were Karnam at third singles 6-0, 6-1 over Briones, Jha at fourth singles 6-2, 6-0 over Zink, sophomore Eliza Georgiades at sixth singles 6-3, 6-0 over Madison Mueller and sophomore Shreyaa Mukund at fifth singles 6-4, 6-3 over Ashley Lambillotte.
Case Western Reserve will be back in action next weekend, when the team takes on Indiana University (Pa.) on Saturday, February 29th at the Cleveland Skating Club. Match is slated to start at 4:00 p.m.
