#31 Women’s Tennis to Face #16 Wash U. and #9 Chicago on Saturday

The 31st-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team will travel to Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, April 13th for a pair of matches against ranked opponents.

The Spartans are scheduled to play 16th-ranked Washington University (Mo.) at 10:00 a.m. ET on Saturday, April 13th, followed by a 4:30 p.m. ET match against the ninth-ranked University of Chicago. Both matches will be played at the XS Tennis Village.

Case Western Reserve will enter the weekend as the winner of its last two matches and with a 7-7 overall record, including a 3-3 mark in neutral-site contests and a 0-3 mark in road matches.

The Spartans are ranked sixth in the Central Region, and feature the region's sixth-ranked singles play in sophomore Madeleine Paolucci. In addition, Paolucci and sophomore Nicole Cardwell are the third-ranked doubles pairing in the region. Overall, the team has a .534 winning percentage (71-62) in singles matches and a .508 winning percentage (33-32) in doubles play during the 2018-19 campaign.

Washington is set to face Principia College on Tuesday, before heading to Chicago on Saturday to face the Spartans. They currently have a 6-9 overall record, including a 5-7 record in matches played on neutral sites. The Bears have won two of their last three matches, including a 5-4 win over 30th-ranked Hope College and a 6-3 victory over 27th-ranked Denison University last weekend. Washington, ranked third in the Central Region, features the region's 20th-ranked singles player in Ally Persky and the 23rd-ranked singles player in Divya Sharma. Persky has also teamed with Lisa Chionis to make the 13th-ranked doubles pairing in the region. The Spartans and the Bears met last season, with WashU winning 6-3.

Chicago has won its last three matches, and is 9-4 overall for the campaign, including a 3-0 mark in matches played at home. The Maroons, ranked first in the Central Region, feature regionally ranked singles players in Marjorie Antohi (second) and Catherine Xu (12th) and the 15th-ranked doubles pairing of Antohi and Lauren Park. The Spartans and Maroons last met during the 2016-17 season, with Chicago winning the match 8-1.
