The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team, ranked 31st in Division III, will play its first outdoor home tennis match of the 2019 season this week, when the Spartans play host to Oberlin College at the Carlton Courts on Saturday, April 6th at 4:00 p.m. CWRU will then face John Carroll University at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion on Sunday, April 7th at 6:00 p.m.
The Spartans stand at 5-7 on the season, following losses to three ranked opponents last weekend. Case Western Reserve is 2-1 in home matches this year, and 3-3 in neutral matches.
As a team, the Spartans have a .521 winning percentage (63-58) in singles play this year, including a .528 mark (38-34) during the spring. In doubles play, the team has a .492 overall winning percentage (29-30), with a .417 mark in spring matches (15-21).
Sophomore Madeleine Paolucci leads the team with a 16-5 singles record, while sophomore Mira Amin has gone 11-8 in singles play, including a 4-1 mark in third-singles matches. Paolucci has added a 14-7 overall record in doubles matches, including a 7-5 mark at first doubles.
Oberlin is 3-10 overall this season, including a 1-2 road record. The Yeowomen will host the College of Wooster on Friday and then Wittenberg University on Saturday morning, before traveling to Cleveland to face Spartans on Saturday afternoon.
John Carroll has won its last five matches, and is 7-3 overall for the campaign. The Blue Streaks, ranked 12th in the Central Region, feature the top-ranked Central Region singles player in Lauren O'Malley. John Carroll is set to face Baldwin Wallace University on Wednesday and Capital University on Friday, before taking on the Spartans.
