The 16th-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team will take on Indiana University of Pennsylvania at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23rd at the Cleveland Skating Club, and then will take on Cleveland State University on Sunday, February 24th at 6:00 p.m. in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
The Spartans opened their spring season with a split of their first two matches this past weekend, including a win over Kalamazoo College on Sunday.
CWRU, which is ranked third in the Central Region in addition to begin ranked 16th in the national poll, features a regionally-ranked singles player in sophomore Madeleine Paolucci (18th).
Indiana (Pa.) is 2-1 on the season, after suffering a 6-3 loss to Denison University on Sunday. The Crimson Hawks lineup features sophomore Julia Newman who leads the team with 12 singles victories, while junior Mariana Valenzuela has added 11 wins. CWRU and Indiana (Pa.) met last season, when the Crimson Hawks defeated the Spartans 6-3.
Division I opponent Cleveland State, which stands at 1-4 on the season, will face the Ohio State University on Wednesday and then take on Binghamton University on Sunday morning, before hosting the Spartans on Sunday evening. The two schools last met during the 2016-17 season, when the Vikings earned a 7-0 victory over CWRU.
