The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team, ranked 16th in Division III, finished the weekend with a 9-0 win over Kalamazoo College at the Cleveland Skating Club on Sunday afternoon.
The Spartans improved to 1-1 on the season with the win, while Kalamazoo dropped to 1-1 for the campaign.
In doubles action, sophomore Madeleine Paolucci and sophomore Nicole Cardwell defeated Caroline Norton and Laura Hanselman 8-0 at first doubles, while freshman Sneha Karnam and freshman Nidhi Jha claimed an 8-2 victory over Sonal Bahl and Ella Knight in the second doubles match. Sophomore Mira Amin and freshman Shreyaa Mukund rounded out the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win in the third doubles contest over Helen Pelak and Maddy Winarksi.
In singles action, Paolucci bested Hanselman at first singles, 6-2, 6-0, and Cardwell claimed a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Winarski at no. 2 singles. Also claiming singles wins for the Spartans on Sunday were Karnam at third singles 6-2, 6-2 over Pelak, Amin at fourth singles 6-0, 6-0 over Norton, Jha at fifth singles, 6-0, 6-0 over Bahl and Mukund at sixth singles, 6-2, 4-6 (10-7), over Knight.
Case Western Reserve will be back in action next weekend, when the team takes on Indiana University (Pa.) on Saturday, February 23rd at the Cleveland Skating Club. Match is slated to start at 6:00 p.m.
