The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team, which ended the 2017-18 season ranked 15th in Division III, kicked off its 2018 fall season this weekend at the Oberlin Invitational in Oberlin, Ohio.
Leading the way for the Spartans at the tournament was senior Jessica Liu, who went 2-1 in singles plays during the weekend, while sophomore Madeline Paolucci posted a 2-1 record and freshman Shreyaa Mukund began her collegiate career with a 2-1 performance at Oberlin. Other CWRU singles players to collect singles wins during the tournament includes Nidhi Jha and Sneha Karnam.
CWRU players combined to go 5-7 in doubles action as well, with eight different players securing at least one win. Karnam and Mukund went 2-1 together in doubles matches, while Liu and Paolucci, sophomore Mira Amin and Jha and freshman Eliza Georgiades and freshman Kristin Jones each added a doubles victory throughout the weekend.
The Spartans will be back in action from Friday, September 21st through Monday, September 24th when the team travels to Kalamazoo, Michigan for the ITA Central Region Fall Championships.
